Project Overview

This conceptual mobile app aims to simplify ticket booking for Mumbai Metro commuters, making the process more convenient and efficient. Users can select routes, buy tickets, check real-time updates, and access metro maps.

Problem Statement

Commuters face long queues, no digital booking options, and limited route planning tools.

The objective is to create a solution that improves convenience and optimizes the booking experience.

Objectives

A user-friendly app that offers:

  • Ticket Booking: Enter journey details, select routes, and purchase tickets.

  • Metro Line Selection: Browse and choose preferred metro lines.

  • Additional Features: Smart card integration, real-time metro maps, and nearby station details.

Design Process

  1. User Flow

  • Onboarding: Users are welcomed with a brief introduction and app features overview.

  • Home Screen: Users input their starting and destination stations.

  • Metro Line Selection: Users pick a metro line to book their ticket.

  • Ticket Summary: A detailed view of the journey, including price, date, and passenger count, with a confirmation option.

  • Payment & Confirmation: Users finalize their booking via digital payment methods.

  • Metro Map: After booking, users can access real-time metro maps and routes.

  • Profile Management: Users can check trip history, manage smart cards, and update personal details.

  1. Wireframing

Low-fidelity wireframes were created to structure the app, focusing on clean navigation and ensuring the ticket booking process is straightforward.

  1. Visual Design

The app's visual design focuses on simplicity, using the Mumbai Metro’s brand color (#00AE5B) with a white background (#FFFFFF) to maintain a clean, modern look.

Challenges

  • Balancing Simplicity and Functionality: Ensuring all essential features are easy to access without cluttering the user interface.

  • Overcoming Design Blocks: At times, I felt stuck while deciding on the best visual hierarchy for presenting complex information, which required iterative testing and feedback.

Conclusion

This personal project helped sharpen my skills in problem-solving and designing user-centered solutions. The app concept aims to provide a more efficient commuting experience for Mumbai Metro users. Feedback is welcome to refine this design further.
